January 16, 2017 by Harish Bali

As our gadgets and devices go wireless i thought to pickup this topic. Traditional way to move data between android and PC has been through USB or OTG cable. After going through this post, You will surely have good reasons to connect android with PC wirelessly.

I am listing down 5 ways through which one can copy files from android to PC & vice versa.  All these method  are much faster than sharing documents over email or uploading them on cloud.

Thumb rule: Android and PC should be connected with the same wifi network. This process does not consume any data cost, it only uses wifi as a mode.

1. Airdroid:

Download app from playstore, create a account. Users with login can access it on PC with QR code on web.airdroid.com

airdroid web view

PC interface above is so easy to follow. Tool box on the right can help upload file from PC to android. If you wish to download any content from android to PC, simply click on respective icon. It’s neatly organized among folders – like – videos, photos, files etc.
You may hold down the ctrl key from PC keyboard and download multiple images or files in one go. You may also explore host of other options like create a new folder, delete an existing one etc.
App is free to use, pro version is for ad free user experience.

Get it  on Google playstore.

2. File expert HD

It’s a file manager for android, Transfer of files or data from PC to android is one of its feature. After download you will notice 3 tabs on top- My files, Folders and My tools.

Transfer of content between PC and android can be done from share my content option under My Tools.

Tap on share via ftp, enter the ftp url on browser. Enter username and password ( mentioned on the android screen), that’s it you are good to go.

File expert HD goes a step forward and provides option to connect by entering ftp url in windows explorer.

App provides access to both internal memory and external storage of android.

Moving a file or folder from PC to android is as simple as drag and drop.

3. Pushbullet:

Transfer of files and folders from PC to android or other way is as simple as drag and drop. This app has some other useful features as well like – see your phone’s notification on your computer, Text from your computer or tablet etc.

Uploading a file from PC to android or downloading it from android to PC can be all done from Pushbullet website after login.

Limitation of free version: Transfer file of upto 25 Mb only.

A big pro unique to pushbullet : Connect many android devices with PC and share data instantly between devices.

Have a look at below video to get good understanding of how to use Pushbullet:

4. Feem V4:

This works little differently, you will need an app on android as well as an app for windows ( available on windows store).
One additional functionality- chat between android and windows device.

File and folder transfer between windows PC & android can happen even without router with the help of wifi direct.

Like other apps shown above – Files, documents, videos move from computer.

There is a attachment button below the screen that helps identify and select files or folder to share between devices. That’s it, super easy to use. I have covered Feem V4 in my YouTube video above, it’s part of my favorite 3 apps.

5. Xender:

I like xender for its amazing interface, apps, files, videos, images are so well organized. Even a newbie, doing files transfer for the first time can follow the intuitive interface and feel comfortable with the app.
Web version of the app can be accessed from web.Xender.com. Scan the qr code option makes it  easy to connect android with PC.

Plus point of using xender is that you may see full screen preview of android images on PC before you start download, this can save lot of time.
