Research Unknown File Extensions with Wolfram Alpha
I generally prefer the option of App store and if I do not find the options relevant to it then I Google the file extension. The challenge of the Google is that you have multiple options available and you do not know which one is from the trusted source. So Go to Wolfram Alpha and just search for the file extension with the dot – wolframalpha
Choose from the side menu which options suits you.
Wolfram will reveal the technical details of that file extension along with the developer and MIME type and a list of Software to open the files.

Cautious: Don’t Forget To Be Cautious Over the Internet
It must be kept in mind that downloading an unknown format file type may risk you of malware and viruses in your device.
